Blackboards
88 min.
Set on the borders of Iraq and Iran, this film follows a fearless group of Iranian teachers. With blackboards strapped to their backs, they search for Kurdish refugee children, hoping to help them by educating them in basic skills. The teachers face harsh conditions and war-related violence, but they are undeterred. Although the director was only 20 years old when she made this film, it's rich both visually and in spirit.
