Grace Lee Project (The)
68 min.
The director of this film grew up in the American Midwest blithely assuming that she was the only Grace Lee around. This belief was quickly dispelled when she moved to California and discovered that her full name was extremely common, to the point that everyone she met knew their own Grace Lee, and that every Grace Lee was described as having the same set of characteristics including "shy" and "nice." Her consequent identity crisis was the catalyst for this thought-provoking documentary, which also examines stereotypes about Asian American women and Asian American identity at large. Grace Lee Boggs, a prominent activist, is also featured in this film.
