Mr. Holland's Opus
Richard Dreyfus plays an inspirational music teacher in a public high shool. He starts working there against his will, thinking he's meant for greater musical accomplishments, but over the span of 30 years in this profession, Dreyfus grows to love his job, infusing his students with a passion and a respect for music. A subplot regarding his relationship with his deaf son also carries a message about tolerance, perspective and respect.
